I'm using XP home on a Dell Desktop. I have Outlook Express set up as default
mail program.
When I'm on a webpage and a click a mail link to send an e-mail, I get the
following error message:
"Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not
properly installed".
Something must haave changed recently, becouse I was able to do this before.
If I click "OK" in the error box, IE or Firefox keep opening pages one after
another until I click on stop on one of the pages, by that time, about 60
pages are open.
How can I fix this?
Thanks,

Sergio

Try this.

[[To be sure OE is the default mail client, close OE, click Start | Run and
enter this command line, complete with quotes, spaces and the /reg switch:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

Of course change the path if you installed OE elsewhere.

Now click Start | Settings | Control Panel, double-click Internet Options,
then click on the Programs tab, and verify that OE is now the default email
client. (You can also get there from the IE Tools | Internet Options menu).
Then open OE and click Tools | Options, and at the bottom of the General
tab, verify that OE is set as the default. If it is, the "Make Default"
button will be grayed out. If not, click the button.]]

If you have MS Office installed, especially Outlook, updates can change your
default mail client.
