e-mail sending problems

When I create a new e-mail and press the send button the e-mail go to the
outbox but under Date: None. I have to forward it and re-send it to get it to
be send, what am I doing wrong.

When I get it to send and I have ticked the box under mail format "hang-up
when finished with a manual send/receive" it drops the line immediatly
without sending the message. I have to un-tcik the box and manualy
disconnect. Nortan Antivirus 2004 is set to not scan my outgoing mail.

I'm using windows 2000sp4,Office 2003 and outlook 2003 and I never had this
problem with office 2000.

please advise.

Did you install Norton with the scanning turned off, or did you just
deselect it from within Norton? From a number of posts in this group, it
appears that the only way to *really* turn off mail scanning in Norton is
to uninstall it and reinstall without selecting the options.
