E-Mail disappears

I use Outlook 2000 at work and after i open an e-mail instead of it sitting in the inbox with the open envelope sign on the left it totally disappears. It does not appear in the deleted folder it just disappears. This just started today and i tried to fix this in tools/options/preferences. Any suggestions?

Check your view settings - you may be filtering on unread messages.
