e drive doesn't know there's a cd-rw inside

when i try to burn cds, as i have successfully in the past i get error
message "Insert a blank CD-r or CD-RW in CD drive (E:), and then try again."

But there is a blank cd-rw inside! I have gone through the entire
troubleshooting menu with no success. is this a hardware problem? Device
Manager says the device is working fine. pls help. cs
 
i read your post with interest. i haven't anything which will help but i have
got the exact same problem. In addition, if I insert an audio cd the details
box for the drive (F:) shows it as containing no data though it will still
play the tracks! hope someone has the answer.

Have you checked at the Drive Manufacturer's website for firmware
upgrades for your drive? I did this and my drive worked 100% better.
