e and d drives missing cannot burn cannot read date or audio cds

thanks for your reply, but after my cd roms went missing I now get this
OLEAUT.32DLL IS OUT OF DATE, AND WHEN I DOWLOADED THE FILE HERE THAT
YOU GAVE ME IT WILL NOT LET ME OPEN IT--AND IT SAYS THAT THE
OLEAUT.32DLL IS OUT OF DATE I ALSO HAD DOWNLOADED THIS FILE TO NO
AVAILE. CAN I RESTORE MY XP DRIVES ONLY?? I KNOW I CAN RESTORE MY XP
FILES ONLY--WITHOUT DOING A WHOLE SYSTEM RESTORE. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP
ME ON THAT, BECUASE I AM THINKING I WILL HAVE TO RESTORE THE FILES AT
LEAST, BUT IF I CAN DO THE DRIVERS TOO WOULD LOVE TO DO THAT, BUT DO
NOT WANT TO DO AN ENTIRE SYSTEM RESTORE, UNLESS THAT WAS MY ONLY HOPE.

Tamie, I got your pm. What I'm trying to tell you here is that you need
to take your computer to a reputable computer shop, let them format
re-install Windows Xp SP2, update drivers, reinstall applications, the
whole shebang.
I usually _don't_ recommend this action, but it sounds that the
computer is beyond what you and others have tried to do to fix it for
you, within this newsgroup type medium.
I read and try to answer a lot of posts about computer problems here.
Sometimes the fixes & patches work, sometimes they don't.
