dynamic ranges for charts

I have a series of data that is annual (about 30 years' worth). I want to chart different periods, like 1997-2002, or 1995-2000, 1990-2000, etc. Is there a way to easily change the series formula so that the x-axis of the chart only shows the years I have selected. I think that the OFFSET function should do this, but I can't get it to work.
