I keep getting an error message each time I shut XP down.
The message is dwwin.exe initialisation failed - failed
to initialise becasue the workstation is shutting down.

Any thoughts anybody on how I can repair this?

Thanks Will, I have already tried that but when I run
that command I keep getting asked to insert my Service
Pack 1 CD ROM. As I downloaded that service pack via the
internet (Windows Update) I do not have a disk so the
task cannot be performed.

Any more suggestions please?

Thanks again Will, I had solved the problem by amending
the WaitToKillAppTimeout to 30000 milliseconds (from
20000) and that worked okay. Guess what, I too have the
Gravis Experience 4.5 Control Panel installed, so I guess
that is at the root of the problem.

Thanks again

This means some application crashes on shutdown, and windows attempts to
start dwwin.exe to perform postmortem analisys of the app. But since your
session is being shut down, Windows gives that message. You can find which
application, by reading applications event log.
