DWT vs. regular

I have spent several hours visiting site trying to understand what the differences are between DWT and regular FP templates. I understand that I can...
(1) change looks through attachments
(2) have control over what can be edited by others (but I have no others)

However, I guess I really don't understand. A new template I want to be is available in a DWT and a non-DWT version. I just want to understand which one I should buy. They're the same price. If I buy the DWT version, will I be able to essentially use it the same way I use a regular template? Or, will using the DWT version limit me in some way, considering I will probably not be changing looks often?

A regular template is a one way function, once it is applied, it can not be removed or updated.

A DWT can be removed and/or updated after being applied.

So, there is no reason not to get the DWT version? I can create my pages as I would with a regular template?

As I was reading the posts in this form, I gathered that there some sort of publishing problems?

If you think a DWT will be of benefit to you, then yes, but there are some limitations not matter
which way you go.

What type of publishing problems?

The posts seem to indicate that if you work on a site live, you cannot edit it as easily as if you are on a disk-based web which you then publish. Is my understanding correct here? Do these problems occur just when attaching a new DWT, or do they relate to daily editing of the body of the pages? I'm a teacher. I need to get my weekly calendars up on my site easily as well as occasional tutorials. Most of the rest of the information will not change often once my site is finished. I am sick of looking at my old site, and need to rework the whole thing. (I work live, but I imagine my husband would not mind getting me off his server. I am surprised that he lets me on there, anyway -- but I don't mention that fact to him!)

Correct the DWT is a design time component which is not supported under the FP2000/2002 extensions,
so you can only update when working with a disk-based web under FP2003 locally or on a remote
Windows 2003 server running Windows Sharepoint Services.

Only applies to add or updating a DWT. As long as you have created editable regions, then you
shouldn't have nay problems updating the actually page content.
