DVD won't write or been seen

I have a DELL system with two CD drives, top for playing and bottom for
burning, all have been fine for months but no the bottom DED/CD RW won't burn
DVDs. It will burn a CD but when I want to burn a DVD it says thier is not
disc inserted but their is?
It will play DVDs and CDs but wont burn. I have tried NERO and drag and drop
and it copies to the file but wont burn?

HELP please

Open device manager and uninstall the drive and reboot,during the boot cycle
windows will detect the drive you uninstalled and reinstall it.
If it doesn't detect the drive reinstall it thru control panel>add hardware.

This may or may not work but it is simple and quick to due while your
waiting for more answers.

I had much the same problem which turned out to be a bad drive.

Have you run the diagnostics?
