DVD vanished

OK, my dvd is vanished from my Explorer and from my deviece manager and I
would like to get it back.

Now a little bit of background:

This is a LiteOn "Super All Writter" DVD writter. I installed it and right
from the start it gave me trouble as it wasnt detetected. I had gamedrive
installed, and it had been causing my computer to freeze, so I thought that
maybe it was some registry problems. So I uninstalled gamedrive rebooted and
there it was, all nice and working. I installed Nero, and rebooted and the
drive was missing again. Did a little research on the net, and found links
to a couple of reg fixes for this particular problem, I ran them rebooted and
everything was fine. Installed MOH, played a while that night and turned off
pc. Today I came home from work and after windows loaded, the drive is
missing again, ran the same registry fixes to no avail. I have run the
fixes, double checked in the registry to verify that the keys were deleted
and restarted and the drive is still missing. Needless to say that BIOS
detects the drive perfectly. Hope you can help. Thanks!

Ok, giving a little bit more info, I am now able to use it just by going into
device manager and looking for hardware changes, then it automatically gets
added and I can use it. This is however annoying, as I have to do a series
of steps everytime I turn on the pc just to use my dvd drive. No takers
yet???

I would try UNinstalling it first, and then run the find hardware routine.
