whenever I open the dvd rw drawer to copy a disc my computer shutsdown
immediately. what is causing this and how can I stop it. This problem has
only started after installing a wireless router.

Wireless router does not usually require a change in the XP/PC. This
is a device where you connect your high-speed internet service unit
(DSL, cable, satalite) to. Do you mean a "wireless adapter?"
