I have a Medion computer with a Pioneer DVR-106D DVD-RW. In Windows
Explorer it shows up as "DVD-RW Drive" as it should... until I put a
DVD-R in the drive. Then it switches to "CD Drive" in Windows Explorer,
and I am unable to burn anything to it.

I have been scouring the message boards and have found a few references
to this issue, but nothing is working. Please speak plain English as I
am not a super-techie. I'm not an idiot, either.

Don't see any mention of it but what software are you using to try and burn
your DVD-R? If you don't have any you will need 3rd party software for that.
Windows doesn't support DVD burning by itself.

Hi. I'm sorry that I have no answers to the questions below, but I'm trying
to find someone that can possibly help me with my DVD-RW. It was working
fine and now my computer is not reading it. You can see that it is working
and the CD's are running, but my computer is not recognizing it. Could I
have uninstalled it on my computer? I am very new to this, so hopefully
someone can help me out!
Thanks!
