DVD-RW drive is not working

It will not read or burn any CD or DVD.Device Manager says it is functioning properly. We have cleaned drive using a cleaning disk. Checked for updates and says it is the best.It was working a few weeks ago then it started to have unsuccessful burns then a few good burns ...very unreliable. HELP

Could be actual defective hardware - contact the manufacturer. They may
have an updated firmare to improve stability.
