dvd problem

i have just had a new motherboard ( as rock) and processor (amd) fitted but
had problems with dvd drive ,bought another drive but have same problem.when
i load a dvd the drive in (my computer) changes from dvd to cd drive and does
not recognise it as a blank dvd. when the cursor is over it shows 0 bytes
and no free space
 
A few things:

1) Install the Asrock motherboard chipset drivers

2) What DVD burning tool are you trying to use? XP does not write to DVD
natively.
