DVD Player Problems

Following on from my previous post below, i tried a few things. DMA Ultra 5
is set on my DVD reader and it seems to be able to achieve high transfer
rates using nero speed test. there seems like there something else inbetween
causing it to pause. Any other suggestions? Ive updated all my drivers and
bios.

I have just built up a new computer which has a 3000+ athlon 64bit chip,
512Mb of RAM, a 120Gb SATA drive and a radeon 9600 Pro 256Mb graphics card
and a sony DVD ROM/CR writer. Problem is when watching DVD's using Power DVD
5 it sometime stutters and hesitates, i would have though this spec would be
able to quite happly play DVD's easily or is there something im missing?
looking at the system performance, the CPU load goes to 100% when the dvd
stutters but is on 15% when playing ok.

I know the stutter you are on about but this is different, its occurs more
freqent and for a longer period of time.

I have seen DVD's stutter before on both set top players and DVDRoms, etc.
What I am refering to is when the reader moves from the first layer to the
second layer on a DVD9 disk - I believe this is somewhat normal. This may
not be what your talking about. Make reference to this fact and if yours is
a different problem then I am sure someone else will take a crack at it.
