DVD player inWindows Media Player

Am unable to play a DVD in Windows Media Player 10. all I get is "Windows
Medium Player has encountered a problem and needs to close, and then "Send
Error report" which i have done. Have checked that my Decoder is ok. I have
a Dell Dimensin 4300 and XP home. Have also tried several help sites but
without success. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks
 
Thank you for the information. Have done both of these and downloaded and
reinstalled Media Player 10 but get exactly the same error message
