DVD not writable

Hi all,
Today when I tried to burn a couple of DVD's, I got a message saying the dvd
disc was not writable even tho they're the same discs (blank ones obviously)
I've been using for a few months now. It's the first time it's happened, and
as I said I've been using them without a problem up until now. I haven't
changed anything, or fiddled with something I should have, and the data type
is the same also. I just don't understand why it would work one week and not
the next?
I'm using Nero same as before as well, if that helps any.
Can anyone shed some light as to why this is happening?
Thanks.

Hi Lell
I'm not sure I can help you, but I seem to have a similar problem.
My old e-machine keeled over with melted parts in the power supply and an
unresponsive mother board, so I bought a new e-machine, transferred to hard
disk from the old machine to the new machine as an add-on, added the SIMMS
from the old machine to the empty slot in the new machine, and replaced the
power supply in the new machine with the higher capacity power supply I had
bought when trying to get the old machine running again. Remarkably, the darn
thing seems to work except that the DVD won't write disks when the writing
wizard is involved. Replacing it with the old CD, which did write disks, gave
the same symptoms, and the DVD did just fine writing on CD's which were
rejected by the wizard when using the wizardless system backup procedure. Of
course, the wizard and the drive troubleshooter disavow all problems. I think
the wizard may need me to get some settings right or may need to be replaced
or something. I seek procedures for getting to the heart of this matter. If
anyone can help, I will appreciate it. Thanks.
Chris
