able to burn rewritable but not to writable CDs and DVDs.

I'm able to burn rewritable CDs and DVDs but not writable CDs and DVDs. I've
tried with sonic, clone dvd, nero and studio plus. same problem with all
programs.
I've MatshitaUJ-84 DVD burner on HP pavillion laptopn with XP (Home).
