DVD making

The several DVD burning programs I have will not open the Windows Movie Maker files so that I can put my project on a disc - do I have to buy ANOTHER DVD-making program (ie the Sonic MyDVD I see on the Web)?! Is that the only one that will do the job, or what?

Marty,

You can use your DVD software.... save the movie from MM2 as a DV-AVI file,
convert it from type I to II if you need to, and then use the DV-AVI file in
your software.

Hello there,

Are you by any chance trying to import the movie maker project file
(which is just a list of the commands necessary to compile a video) or are
you trying to import either a WMV file (which may fail) or an AVI file which
should just about always succeed.

Jennifer,

Movie Maker 2 just doesn't have that feature.... so you need to use other
software to make DVDs, and there isn't anything that can take the MM2
project file and make a DVD from it.

So saving the movie to your hard drive first is all you can do.... if it's a
hard drive space issue and your DVD software supports the WMV format, use it
instead of DV-AVI as it's only 7 percent the size. But you'll have a slight
quality lose due to it being more compressed. I made a DVD the other day
from a WMV file for the same reason, and it looks fine.... using Sonic
MyDVD.

I have the same quesiton. I want to be able to burn a DVD without having

to save the Windows Movie Maker project to my hard drive, is there a way to
go from working on the project to being able to imediately burn it to a DVD?
Like how the WMM program can save the movie to a video cd. I have other dvd
programs that can also edit movies like WinDVD and Roxio, but I don't like
the effects and transitions that they have, I prefer the WMM program for all
that it has to offer besides this little snag. And then with the umm..Sonic
My DVD, the information ad thing says that it is compatible with WMM
files...is that once they are saved to the hard drive you can access them
inorder to burn the dvd? Im able to do that with the WinDVD creater and
Roxio fine, but I just don't like filling up my hard drive like that. Okay,
thats my question, thank you )
