I have a Dell PC
One of my recording and burning devices is a DVD RW
It does not matter what I put in a DVD I can only burn one item
If I try to burn another item it tells me the DVD is full

TIA

If you finalize the DVD it will not accept any more data.

This is true of DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, CD-R, and CD-RW.

RW discs can be erased or reformatted (which makes them empty) and then
reused.

You need to educate yourself. Because you burner is an RW doesn't mean your
media is.

If a DVD can hold 4.7 GB and I burn something that is only 1 GB I should be
able to add another 3.7 GB into that DVD or am I wrong? I did burn something
that is about 1 GB and it tells me it is full already.

I am aware of that

In your burn settings you need to check off 'close session' and not
'finalize', or SAO instead of DAO. Session at Once allows you to add files
at a later date. Disk at Once closes the disk permanently.

no I am not

Well, there is your problem, you need to use dvd-rw and not dvd-r if you
want to keep adding to the disc. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you can do
multi-sessions on a disc but not all the time, depends on the settings
of your burner, the software you are using to burn and the media itself.
Honestly, I just wait until I have enough info. I want to put on a disc
before I burn it to disc.

If you didn't finalize it, you can add to it. If you have finalized it, you
can't add to it.

As Gene points out, finalizing the disk is the culprit. Your burning
program should give you the option to finalize the disk or not. The
program should also allow you to burn any number of files up to the
maximum capacity of the DVD, not just one item.

Don't finalize if you want to add more data later on.

It might help if you would identify the program you're using to burn
your DVDs.
