DVD & DVB Driver

Hi,

1) I was able to install Vista using my Pioneer DVD/RW drive. After
rebooting the PC my device manager says it is unable to load the device driver
2) My Digital Tuner was working under Windows XP. I have tried installing
using the setup program and manually installing the drivers, but won't
install the drivers (Driver Management concluded the process to install
driver NULL Driver for Device Instance ID
PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_8800&SUBSYS_018714F1&REV_05\3&18D45AA6&0&60 with the
following status: 3758096899.)

This was a fresh install of Vista (no upgrade)

I have checked both manufacturers web sites, but neither have released
drivers. The DVB manufacturer says the device should work under Vista.

I must say that I don't want to replace every h/w component I have to just
to upgrade to Vista.

Any help would be good.

I am MS Gold Partner and am running the finished product downloaded via MSDN.

Graham I have had similar problems with both of my dvd writers with the only
exception that after rebooting both dvd writers were still functional and
didn't dissappear until 2 days later when device manager came up with same
error message about unable to load devicde drivers when i tried to update
drivers i was told that i alreday have the latest drivers available. Heres
hoping someone can help both of us with this problem . I didn't have this
problem when running Vista RC1 for 4 weeks

I am having the same problem of dissapearing DVD/CDROM Devices. Both of my
DVD/CD writers have stopped being recognized by Vista. I sure can boot from
the units but once windows is loaded the OS won't recognize the units and
there is an
exlcamation mark in device manager for each of the DVD\CD Units

I found updated firmware for both my dvd writers when I tried to flash them
Vista wouldn't allow me to update. I believe I solved this problem by
flashing the firware for both dvd writers using Xp Pro operating system I
then reinstalled the Vista Os with the newly flashed writers and they both
appeard in Computer and in device manager they showed as both functioning
properly
So far the drives haven't disappeared in 48 hours heres hoping what I did
will help the rest of you solve your dvd devices problem. Let us know how you
make out
Sincerely Bcs4

Latest Update Damnit I'm back to square 1 both dvd writers disappeared afte
several reboots i even made restore points after software and hardware
installs to see if it was one of thos problems but alas no even restoring to
first available restore point does not allow drives to reappear. As I have
notice many others are having similar problems heres hoping microsoft
addresses this quickly or you will see alot of people returning to XP just so
they can use their dvd writers

FYI: I haven't had time to follow up the suggestion below, but will update
you when I do.

Hi Graham,

Thanks for posting here.

From your post, I understand your concern is that after install the latest
Windows Update, you cannot use your DVD any more.

If I am off base, please feel free to let me know.

I think the issue can be caused by the hard drive update. I think we can go
the Windows Update web site and right click the update and close hide.

Then please turn on Windows Update and check the issue again. If the issue
doesn't persists, please write down the KB number for the update for my
research confirm. Basically, we recommend our customer install the latest
Hardware Driver from its manufacturer. However if the update causes the
issue, we feel so sorry for the inconvenience. And I will help you feedback
the issue to my development team.

If the issue persists even hiding the specific update, please send me
system information for this computer for further research to find out the
root cause.

To collect the system information, please

1. Click Start and input msinfo32.
2. Save and file on the desktop.
3. Zip the file and send it to (e-mail address removed).

If you have trouble to narrow down which update causes the issue, please
also send the system information and the detailed information on your DVD
drive to me. It's my pleasure to give an assistance.

Please have a test and let me know the result at your earliest convenience.

Expect your feedback and have a great day!

Thanks & Regards,

This can be due to a motherboard BIOS issue. BIOSes sometimes do not pass
through correct device details.

Have you checked for an updated motherboard BIOS?
