DVD/CD-RW Drive

When I put CD in my Drive it will record and play. When I put a recorded DVD
it will play. But when I place any blank DVD(DVD-RW or DVD-R), it is not even
recognized by the drive. Why? Can I fix it?
And I try to run a DVD-Rom Test and I get an error message "Excepetion in
DisplayRunMap.runmap)

So does this drive actually claim to be a DVD recorder? And if so do you
have DVD burning software installed?

Yes it does, in fact I used it to record DVD's years ago. There is 2 DVD
record installed MyDVD and Intervideo WinDVD Creator.

Did you perhaps "update" the drivers to something incorrect? Windows
itself knows nothing of DVD burners, only the DVD burning software will
know what to do with a blank.

Possibly not relevent but is your DVD burner compatible with DVD -R, -RW
media?

Some burners could be +R/RW only, or only partially compatible with -R/RW
media. Meaning BrandX discs might work in the drive but Brands Y, W won't.
