Hello. i am having problems burning dvds. OS is winxp-pro, dvd drives are
sony dvd player and maddog 16x dual layer burner. Software tried are 123-copy
, dvd decryter, dvd shrink, dvdfab and others. Error messages are invalid
pointer and i/o errors, (ex: in 123-copy, invalid pointer. In dvd shrink, i/o
error).

I have noticed that the aspi layer is in win\sys and win\sys32, but not
loaded.
All hardware and software are updated. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks and have a safe and happy new year

Can you be more specific with the errors?
They will be in your event log:
Start -> Run -> eventvwr
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427

As for your concern about ASPI...
http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/speed/software_pc/aspi/aspi_v471_exe.htm

Download and install that.

Hi Shenan.
Error list :
"An error was detected on device\device\cdrom0 during a paging operation."
"The device\ideport1, did not respond within the timeout period."
"The human interface, Device Access Service terminated with the following
error, The specified module could not be found."

Thanks for your help,
Le

Go to MadDog and find out if they offer a firmware update for your
particular model of drive. Apply that.

Particularly here:
http://www.mdmm.com/optical_storage_drivers.php

If they do not, it could be a defective drive or cable. Swap out the cable
first.
I've never been a big fan of maddog - I prefer Plextor... But...
