DVD Burner fried CPU now explorer.exe is currupted

Ok first off I'm not exactly sure if explorer.exe is the
problem, but let me explain what happened.

I got a DVD burner and had been burning CDs with it fine.
I finally found a reason to burn a DVD and decided to do
just that. Just as the the burning process started the
computer shut down. After some trouble shooting I
concluded the CPU was fried and replaced it with a spare
one I had laying around until I could buy a new one. The
CPU that went out was an AMD 2800+ the temp CPU I put in
was an AMD 1.2 GHz. I now have an AMD 3000+ in my machine.

Ever since the 2800+ died I've been having some troubles
with IE and opening folders on my computer (My Docs, My
Computer, Network Neighborhood, ect.) It takes exactly one
minute to open up IE or a file browsing window. Once I've
opened up a window for file browsing however I can go from
folder to folder without any delay, but when I open up IE
it takes several minutes to fully desplay a web site. Also
once I have IE opened I can not close it unless I go
through Task Manager and ending the process. I've since
installed Mozilla and can browse the web fine. I've tried
reinstalling IE, but I do not want to reinstall my system.

Any suggestions?

If you fried the CPU, I'd suspect the motherboard as well. If the CPU got
that hot, it could easily have damaged the motherboard. Or, it could have
started with a motherboard problem which them toasted the processor.
