had some pc problems with a firewall.
seemed it downloaded and partially installed sp2.
tried to do system restore and somehow was turned off...so no restore.
gave in and re-downloaded and installed sp2....more problems.
wanted a clean slate....reinstalled xp home.....thn tried reinstalling sp2
again.
now...i have quite a few duplicate files and folders.... 2 C: drives...one
named 'local hard drives(C:)' ...the other, 'local disk(C:).
I don't see them at the same time from my desktop.....but i do when i use
"search".
the console tree looks like this....
my documents
my pics
my music
my videos
desktop
my computer
local hard drives(C:)
my documents
shared documents
3 1/2 floppy
local disk(C:)

Those two entries, Local Hard Drives (C:) and Local Disk (C:),
are in fact pointing to the same location. Within Search, the
"Local Hard Drives" entry includes all the physical hard drives
and/or partitions that exist on your computer. For instance, if
your main hard drive contained three partitions you'd see an
entry for "Local Hard Drives (C:,D:,E:) with Local Disk (C:),
Local Disk (D:) and Local Disk (E:) listed later in the tree.
The same would apply if you had multiple hard drives.

Rely on Windows Explorer or My Computer to show you the file
structure on your system. If you have a single partition, C:,
on a single hard drive which you formatted when you reinstalled
XP then you should have only a single Windows installation on
your computer.

Post back if you have any questions.
