duplicate records with extra info

Hi all,

OK this is what I am trying to do. I have duplicate records (in the phone #
field) and I want to delete those records. But some of them have different
information in some fields (ie they have the same last name but a different
first name...or they have same last name different first name and different
address). I want to delete the double phone # but somehow keep the different
information (i.e. add the different first name to the other first name).
Also...I am not very knowledgable about VBA code so if you could explain it
in another way or in steps that would be great.

I am not sure what you really want to do. How about posting some dummy
records like

Then show it how you want it to be when done.

You should be able to do this using VBA programming, but how are you
going to tell Access what to do and when if you have two different Smith
families? What are you going to do when the addresses don't match? Also
remember that two people in the same family may have different telephone
numbers, sometimes several each.

Unless the subject is the family and not the individuals you may want
to rethink this. If the subject is the family first, then I suggest
splitting the database by last name (or phone number if that is the deciding
factor) then set up a one (family name or phone number) to many (first
names) relationship. Then showing the names as you want would be far
easier, even though they would not be stored that way.
