Duplicate processes opening

Hi, I have a user who uses several applications on Windows 2000 sp4 . When
the application is opened it seems to open up the process twice. This
results in documents getting locked and other problems.

Any Idea why this happens or how to fix it?

I'd try a different user or new user to determine if machine or user
specific issue.
