Duplicate name on network

I have a Netgear wireless network with 2 computers. One computer has SP2 and
the other SP1. The SP1 machine now gives a system error stating that there
is a duplicate name on the network. Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated as I am new to networking.

Tom,

check all NetBIOS names they all have to be different.

Open a command line window and enter the command: nbtstat -n

Are the names all unique?

One common error is to give the same name to a computer and to a
user. In that case change the computer name.
