Duplicate items on Epson 'Start Button' menu

I have an Epson 2450 Scanner. In addition to the power button, it also
has a 'start' button that you can press to pop up a menu of scanner
relevant activities.

Over time, duplicates have appeared for items on this menu (e.g. Epson
Photo Print appears three times, Epson Smart Panel appears three times
(only one of which works). The settings for these options are stored in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StillImage\Events\STIProxyEvent

If I delete them from here and restart the machine they temporarily
disappear. But, once I use the start button, the duplicates return. I'm
guessing this is something to do with entries in ControlSet002 /
ControlSet003 / ControlSet004.

I don't fully appreciate how significant the ControlSets entries are, so
I'm nervous of tinkering with them.

System in use: XP Home.

Any suggestions for removing the duplicates would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Backup the registry.

Export the key(s) before deleting them. Get each exported key a filename you
can find.
If that key should not be deleted, the restore the exported key.
