Is there a Duplicate File Finder that's worth a hoot?

It'd be useful to know what you want to do.

For general duplicate finding, there are lots - a nice simple one is
FindDupl by David J Taylor; there's also one included in EasyCleaner
from ToniArts. (Make sure you get it from Toni's site, where it's free,
not the one that looks more official; someone bought the site and now
charges for it.) (Actually the code is a rip-off of David's code, but
due to a misunderstanding only. EasyCleaner has other useful parts; if
you _only_ want the duplicate finder, go to David's site.)

If it's specifically for pictures, something which identifies whether
they're the same image but in different formats (.gif and .jpg for
example), or resized or rotated, can be useful: I recommend DupDetector
from Prismatic software. (This shows you the two potential matches -
because you can set a percentage match below 100% - alongside each
other, so you can choose which to discard, if that's what you're trying
to do.)

Today, I dare say more people know who starred as /The Vicar of Dibley/ than
know the name of the vicar of their local parish. - Clive Anderson, Radio
