Duplicate DLL Files

Can someone please advise on duplicate DLL files found in System/32 and i386
folders?

I recently used Ashampoo Win Optimizer Platinum Suite to search out
duplicates and found over 10,000 of the little buggers. I deleted a small
handful of duplicates only pertaining to version updates that I was certain
were safe to get rid of and BOY did my system ever speed up nicely.

But I'm curious as to the duplicates found in the above two folders. I
won't dare delete them from either folder if they're essentials, but any
direction from a pro as to which folder would be the safer delete would be
very appreciated.

system32 is the "live" folder; it's where they are loaded and
run from. i386 is probably the install folder.

Thanks a heap, Dave. I shall experiment with a few deletes from the i386
(easily replaced if needed) and see how it goes from there.

I just tried Ashampoo myself and had a heck of a time
removing it,
