Duplicate Archive folders in outlook

Guest

Currently i have Archive settings setup to do the default settings....

today, i manually archived a folder to a different name.pst file....

which in turn created a new set of archive folders in outlook....

first set has properties of archive.pst
2nd set has proterties of name.pst

I assume this is by design? if so, is there a way to where i can have all
of my archives under one set of Archive folders......

thanks

Archive Folders is the default single archive data file (similar to the
Personal Folders which is the default data file)
If you create another archive data file it will appear, if open in OL, as a
seperate data file with whatever name you gave it.
Personally I name my Archive pst's by year. eg Archive2006.pst etc

but appeared was a 2nd set of Archive folders (like the default setup) but
it also included the folder that i manually archived to a name other than
archive.pst...

then for the hec of it i went into the new created Archive folder and
grabbed the newly created archive and dragged it under the original archive
folder... once i did that, the newly created Archive folder disappeared does
that make sense?

It makes sense but you are not understanding, or I am not explaining well.
The name Archive Folders is the default name given to a *single* data file
(which happens to be an archive)
If you create an archive named 'name.pst' and open that you will have a
second Archive Folder (data File, whose properties point to the pst you
created)
Because you gave the pst a name other than Archive doesnt mean the Folder
will be shown as 'name'

You can rename the individual Archive Folders, which might help, if you have
several - see properties of the individual archive folders

When you draged from one to the other all you were doing was combining the
data contained in two seperate data files
