Duplicate a user completely

I have a system that was been used for at least a year and the login name
and user name is right but under documents and settings it is called
owner..(some number) and all of the programs and all have been installed
into this owner. Is it possible to totally copy all of that file to another
name and then delete that owner name?

Or is it easier to change the name of the directory and all of it's
registry values?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is inadvisable to do so, since there may be programs which refer to
locations within that folder-structure directly.

You can quite safely change the _description_ of the user, and this will
then show on the Start Menu instead of the name. Would this be adequate?

Or, you can copy the document-folders to a new userprofile, and accept that
the settings will need to be re-created. Even so you may run-into problems
with faulty shortcuts.

When I setup laptops, I use a generic accountname such as 'user' or 'owner'
since creating a personalised account means big headaches if the username
changes. (which might not even be an owner-change, might be marriage for
example.)

Hi Anteaus
Thanks for the response, I am the only user on the system and I
automatically log in so I really don't see the start menu. I have changed
the owner name in the registry. Can I just change the name in the documents
and settings?
