Dupilcate footnotes

I'm writing a report and I'm using footnotes and endnotes to cite sources,
however at several points I would like to cite the same source twice, is
there a way to do this in Word 07?
Right now all I know how to do is create a second foot/endnote, which looks
stupid if the two notes are side by side, or type in the note's number as
text, which creates problems if I insert another note earlier.

You can cross-reference a footnote via a NOTEREF field.

As macropod says, this can be done with a NOTEREF field. I can't give you
exact instructions for doing this in Word 2007, but you should start with
Insert | Links | Cross-reference. I'm guessing that will open the same
dialog as in Word 2003, in which you select "Footnote" as the "Reference
type" and "Footnote number (formatted)" for "Insert reference to."

Thankfully, you can get to all field insertions via the Alt-I, F shortcut key sequence.
