For interested MSVPs and anyone affected who may be using ZonAlarm.

Ref recent posts reporting Task Manager showing dumprep.exe copies hogging
CPU.

This problem prossibly arises from something in the new issue of firewall
program ZoneAlarm released a few months back.

:) Albert.

Cant say read much recently - but after July Black Tuesday updates I and
others reported heavy appearance of these 'dumps' hogging CPU usage - I and
a few others got rid of them by re-booting two or three times after doing
the update download/install.
I do not remember any mention of Zone Alarm - I have the free one and yes
that was updated round that time.
It was suggested I seem to remember(wish I had read it better than I did)
that if each July update was installed one at a time rather than one after
the other en-block, the re-boot after each perhaps was not taking effect.
I hope this means something to you.
But I downloaded to disk then disconnected from the net and disabled
firewall and antivirus prior to installation.
Sorry I cannot give better info - I did the same this month and got no
'dumps' left in Task Manager.
Rgds
