Is there any quick way to find a reply or check a thread you've started
?

Using a news reader (like Outlook Express or Agent) makes this (and many
other actions) simple.
Drop the web based interface.

Hello Kirk,

Click on your name at the bottom of page where it shows the users
logged on. This will open a page with options and info. You can find
all your posts and threads there.

I use outlook express as a newsreader. one of the columns has an icon of a
pair of spectacles. if you click in that column area next to your desired
message, it puts a pair of spectacles next to it (i guess to indicate that
you are 'watching' the conversation?) and turns the conversation text red,
which helps you see those conversations in a list of otherwise blue text.
BUT the other good thing is if you sort by the spectacle column, all your
watched conversations are at the top and the other - un-watched -
conversations are in chronological order below.
