Dumara worm repair

Hello




I was getting a message about a missing file and Haus (thank you Haus)
pointed out that this was the result of my having been infected with the
W32/Dumaru.a@MM worm. He was right. I was. My PC-cillin program picked it
up a few weeks ago, and I deleted the infected files. I'm not sure I should
have done that. Then I re-loaded my Windows program (with the aim of
getting the files back). Most of my programs worked OK after that and the
scans did not indicated any virus was left. But a few things still don't
work, and I kept getting the message when I boot up that they can't find the
dllreg.exe. File. I deleted several files in addition to this one. Question
to anyone who knows: How can I get these files back and put them where they
belong?

Hello Jim
First of all thanks for letting us know we are doing some good.
I am not sure if you have purchased your puter with XP already on it or
purchased XP and put installed it on your puter, but anyway if you have an
XP disk (not a restore disk) you can do a repair install by booting from the
CD and then when it says to Press any Key to Boot from CD hit your space bar
and it will copy files then a blue screen will appear then you will need to
press Enter then F8 to accept the license agreement then I believe you will
see the message to press R for repair. If you just have the restore CD's I
believe the puter manufacturers have a hidden repair partition on XP I am
not totally sure about this but HP I think you press the F10 key at boot to
go into there repair files, you might want to check with manufacture or
maybe someone on here can tell you more.
