Dual scan II vs Multi Pro

I have a Dual Scan II for almost 4 years now and I'm hitting the it's
ceiling of performance. Slides which are perfectly sharp seen from the
film itself, do not result in that same sharpness with the scans.

As I want to get all of my negs and slides (35mm and MF), I am drawn
towards to Minolta Scan multi Pro scanner.
Since it is quite an investment, I wonder if the multi pro scans will
make a difference from the aged Scan Dual II.

Is there someone who walked the same route, from a Dual Scan II towards
a Multi Pro, and would reflect on the quality (jump?) between these
scanners.

Thanks,
Borgh.

Before considering the jump to the MultScanPro, I suggest you check out
this website: http://www.jamesphotography.ca/scanner_test.html. If
you're going for the big bucks, you might as well get the best scanner
in it's class and that may not be the SMPro (which I own and am
satisfied with, but I might have made a different choice if James's
info was available then.)

I can't actually find a results page

Thanks fot the link, I knew this link but lost it. I think the results
of these test has haunted me subconsiously, that explains my carefulness
of choosing the right scanner.
But....Kolwicz as an owner of the multi pro, would you buy another
minolta 5400 aside for 35mm scanning, or is the multi pro adequate for
that format.

Thanks. Is there a summary there? Its alot of numbers and it doesn't
appear that the scanners are listed in order of final score. An excel sheet
which i could then easily view might be better.
I am looking at the canon flatbed 9950 and the epson 4990. I also already
own the dedicated 35mm konica DSEII. Arranging the same scanners into
categories 35mm dedicated. then flatbeds. Then auto or manual. and
silverfast, own software or vuescan. etc. A basic out of 10. score. What
has been shown is the raw data unsorted.

If you are after a multi pro, have a look on eBay their have been a least 6
on eBay UK in the last couple of weeks and not one went for more than £300 -
$160 at that price they have got to be worth a go, just wish I had seen them
before I spend 2 grand on mine 4 weeks ago.

I also have the 5400 which is miles better than the multi pro at scanning
35mm.

Hallo Paul,

I haven't seen those deals, I saw UK multi pro's but they ended much higher.
Anyway, I ordered one allready and I am ashtonished by your remark that
the 5400 performs much better in the 35mm format.
Is it a great difference, how's the multo pro at 35mm, any good ?
Otherwise I have to by a 5400 as well, because I skipped the DSLR way in
order to get te very most out of a negative.
