Dual Monitors

I have a desktop computer with an intergrated video card
(intel extreme graphics) Can I add a second video card
with only one output source in a PCI slot and have dual
monitors work? Or, will it override the intergrated card
and only allow one monitor at a time?

thanks for your time.

I've done it several times. It works.
I've mixed AGP and PCI video cards with success.
I've mixed brands (nVidia, ATI, etc) with success.
Windows ought to give you the choice of which is the
primary card, 1 or 2, and will allow spanned monitors.

However, beyond drivers, the software doesn't mix between
manufacturers. You won't get a cloned image without having
identical, dual cards, or by getting a card with two cable
ports builtin.
Software for one brand will refuse to work with any other
brand, and even with the same brand but different models,
it may refuse.
ATI Radeon duals are cheap and effective and allow
spanning, cloning, multiple virtual desktops, etc.

Hi,
Thanks so much for this info. I've been trying to clone two monitors for
weeks now (see post: "1 computer, 2 monitors"). Everyone has been telling me
it's possible with two different video cards.

So, where can I get the ATI Radeon card cheap?

Thanks!
Frank

Thanks for the info. I looked on Price Watch.com today
and I found several cards with great prices.
