Dual channel question

Bradley

I currently have an Intel board that is operating in dual channel mode (2)
256 sticks for a total of 512MB.

I just got a single 512 stick and will plant it in the 3rd slot leaving the
4 slot open.

Will my (2) 256 sticks still operate in dual channel mode doing this?

Probably not. Check your motherboard/system documentation. Generally you
need an even number of sticks/sides. If you have an odd number the dual
channel is disabled.
