Dual Boot WinXP and WIN2K ??

Is it possible to add a copy of Win2K to a system that already has XP on it?
I am trying to debug a problem that could be an XP problem or a problem with
the hardware, and thought that an independent copy of WIN2K might help me do
this, but XP "disabled" the Win2K setup.

Is there a way around this? (The Win2K is a licensed version from an older
computer that I crapped, so it is fully legal.)

TIA
Ja.

You can do this but it is strongly recommended that you install
Win2000 on a different partition. Here is how you do it:
1. Save the hidden files c:\ntdetect.com and c:\ntldr in some other
location.
2. Install Win2000 on a different drive.
3. Boot into Win2000.
4. Restore the two hidden files.

A little more digging around in news archives looks like it is possible, but
you have to boot from the Win2K CD to do the install, and not just try and
run the Win2K setup from a running XP system. And yes, I do know bout
having the restore the Xp versions of NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM in order to
boot XP.

If this is NOT correct, I would certainly like to hear about it before I try
again. :)

Thanks. I think my original problem was trying to run the Win2K setup from
within a running XP system. It seems that one has to boot directly from the
Win2K CD and do the fresh install that way (in a different partition, as you
suggest).

Thanks again,
Jay
