Hi all and thanks in advance for any help.....

ok, so I read an article on dual booting Vista with Xp Pro

http://apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vista

I can follow it all but I'm having trouble using Gparted USB mainly getting
the flash drive (well MP3 player) to be formatted as a bootable drive, don't
think I'll have problems using a USB device to boot as I'm on a crosshair
mobo.

TIA

Windows cannot boot from a USB drive. It makes no difference whether your
motherboard supports USB devices as boot devices.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear,. Iwanted to use the USB to mount Gparted
to reorganise the c: partition which is currently dedicated to XP to allow
enough space to install Vista which is th idea proposed in the article which
URL I posted.

The GParted iso image needs burning to CD. I have never heard of it being
used from a USB device, and I'm not sure that it is possible.

Think it's a new thing, check http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php

Anyway, in the end I used Partion Magic to split the c: drive, I've
succesfully installed VHP (fully legal on both OS's), it came up fine after
the insallation but on reboot, no option to select OS boot just straight
into XP, any help, really, really appreciated!

You might try putting in your Vista Disk and doing a 'Repair' instead of
Install,...from there you can select 'Startup Recovery' and that may give
you a boot menu.

I hope this helps,...Frank Bright
