DUA Update script on CD-ROM doesn't work

I have the same problem as discussed here,

I have all appropriate components installed to read the CD-ROM drive,
yet when I place the script on the drive it does not execute. When I
change the registry script setting to c:\update.dup and copy the files
from the cd to the C:\ the script is read and deleted correctly.

After execution the script (C:\update.dup) and any file it uses gets
deleted from C:\. Could this be the reason DUA does not run local
scripts from a read-only disc?

Has anyone else had this problem or knows how to fix it?

I just found this link, which talks about the problem in more detail.

The workaround I will adopt is to use my helper app to detect the
presence of a unique file on CD and copy the all the files into a temp
directory, which is polled by DUA.

Does anyone know if this is the intended operation of DUA? Or is it a
bug?
