Simple. I have a folder with 1200 excel files.
all having DATE in Coloumn A and Minutes in Coloumn E.
I have one main excel file with DATE in coloumn A. Anyway
i can enter DATE in my main file and Minutes would
automatically be displayed in next coloumn.
Example.

file1.xls contains

DATE MINUTES

28-june-2004 52
28-june-2004 35
29-june-2004 15

files2.xls contains

DATE MINUTES

26-june-2004 21
28-june-2004 47
30-june-2004 31

Formula should give result 134( 52+35+47 ) If i type 28-
june-2004 in coloumn A of my main sheet.
I tried linking, but it wont work unless those all 1200
worksheets are open and active.
Any help is greatly appriciated.

Your formula should work with the worksheets closed if the full path to your worksheet is in the formula
