DSUM and External Data

Lotsa Data

I have frequently used the DSUM formulas to return the sum
of all of the data in a field of a datasheet, but only
where records match the criteria I specify. The DSUM
formulas provide needed flexibility that pivot tables
won't allow (for reasons I won't get into here).

I am starting to work with a database that is larger than
the 64,000 row limits of Excel, and want to be able to run
reports I have designed, but link them to an external
database. Does anyone know if there is a way to point the
DSUM function at an external database? I want to be able
to pull the sum of a field for all rows that I specify,
but do so in a single cell without downloading all of the
rows that match the criteria into Excel.

Thanks!

I don't believe DSUM can work with external data. SQL.REQUEST is likely to
be your only option.
