DST November 4

My DST did not occur as it should on November 4. I doubled checked to insure
that I had installed the update KB 933360 and it is there. For now I have
manually changed the time though I want to make sure that it changes as it
should from now on, my system time and Outlook 2003.

Manually changing the time is a bad idea in Windows XP, which internally
keeps time as Coordinated Universal Time plus a time offset for local
time. In Daylight Saving time it is the offset that changes, not the
internal clock, so changing the clock only makes matters worse.

Go to Control Panel / Date & Time / Time Zone and be sure that the
selected time zone is one of the US & Canada ones that is supposed to
change today and that "Automatically adjust ..." is checked. Then go to
the Internet Time tab and click "Update Now."

If (1) 933360 is listed in Add/Remove Programs, (2) your Time Zone is
correct and (3) the Automatic DST option was enabled in Date and Time
Properties, and the machine didn't automatically adjust for DST, try syncing
Internet Time using time.windows.com [which BTW was ~2 minutes fast when I
synced with it earlier today]. If still no joy, open a free Support
Incident (see below).

If you've not already downloaded and run the OL 2003 TZD Update Tool, do so.
Not having done so should not be the cause of your system clock not
adjusting.

If Microsoft Update is not your default update source, I'd recommend making
it so or checking in at Office Update website monthly to make sure your
Office apps are fully patched.
