DST change confusion

I am confused about what to do regarding the new DST change. I have read one
post that refers to KB 914387 and KB 931836, but they appear to be quite
confusing to this novice.
I have also been directed to a page:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/dst_hu2?systemlist=w17

#1 - Would someone be able to tell me what the 'easiest' way would be to
set-up my computer correctly to recognize the new DST?
#2 - Someone told me just to Date and Time Properties / Time Zone and
un-check the box next to: Automatically adjust clock for DST. Would that work?

Please help me

If you use Windows Update, then it's likely your system has already
received the Hotfix to adjust DST Start/End dates. You can use the
tool ( from your URL ). The only issue with it is that it requires you
to attempt the install and if the system is already patched you'll get a
message that says "A later version of this patch is already..."

What the MS tool should actually do is test for the existence of the
patch prior to stepping users through the download/run process.

As far as I can figure, KB914387 is for Windows XP/2000 Pro & SP1, but
KB931836 is just for Windows XP Pro SP2.

But I'm still waiting for the offical word from MS. Because setting up the
reg. script referenced in KB914387 would make my life easier to get all my
WinXPproSp2 clients updated rather than manually going around and installing
KB931836.

Also when will the KB931836 patch be released to WSUS? Darn MS, you like to
make this hard...

Visit this site, www.intelliadmin.com, and get all of the patches needed
for both Windows XP-SP1/SP2 or Windows 2000.

You said if we used the "Windows Update." We go to the Critical Updates and
then click on the Priority Updates. Don't believe that is the same as the
"Windows Update." Should we click on the
"http://support.microsoft.com/gp/dst_hu2?systemlist=w17" ? Would that solve
the problem of the DST updating every year? Or would it possibly harm our
computer? We are really very confused/frightened about what to do.

That site will provide the patch, and test to see if it's already installed.

I looked in my Add/Remove and see the following:
"Update for Windows XP (KB931836)" Does that mean we already have the fix
for the DST change? And we do not have to do anything else?
Or should we try to download mentioned on
"http://support.microsoft.com/gp/dst_hu2?systemlist=w17"
Thanks for all your help. You don't know how much we appreciate it.

Great! So we don't have to do anything and we can go back and place a check
mark in the box next to "Automatically adjust for DST" in the Date and Time
Properties / Time Zone?
