Drop Down Windows

When you have text in a drop-down window that is longer than the width of the
window how do you see the entire text? Thanks for your assistance.
 
Also, if the drop-down window box is using the standard activex control,
most of the boxes has a 'gripper' in the right-bottom corner of the
drop-down list. You can 'grab' the 'gripper' and stretch the window for the
size you need.

They look like three diagonal hash marks.
