Drop Down Menus - lost short menus

I am not sure how to explain this ... when I would go to my favourites tab I
would get the most recent categories with a double carrot downwards which
would expand the favourites menu if needed.
I have lost that ability for some reason and when I open my favourites now I
get the full list .. which is very long... how can I initiate the ability to
have the old method back.
Any suggestions would be helpful

The option is "Enable Personalized Favorites Menu"
