Drop Down Menus Behave Differently

We just tested installation of IE 6.0 SP1. One of the web
pages our organization frequently uses has a number of
links listed down the left side of the screen which open
dropdown menus when selected. The dropdowns open
vertically to the right of the selected link when using IE
5.5. However, after installing IE 6 SP1 the drop down
menus open on top of the selected links, which is awkward
and confusing. Is there a known fix for this behavior?
